On Tuesday I actually had some energy, and our apartment looked like a mess, from everything we brought home that didn't have a place yet, some still doesn't.
One of the things we brought home was dirty clothes hampers from his parents, the ones we had previously were ones Tim got for when he first started college, they were mesh, with a wire framed that folded up all nice when there wasn't laundry in them. Perfect for a college student that has to go somewhere other then their apartment to do laundry.
When we got married they were in pretty good shape, one had a hole in the mesh and the handles that were on them were still there, but after a year and a half of laundry doing every week the handles eventually broke, not a big deal considering we have a washer and dryer in our apartment. Then the wire frame broke and started coming out, creating an accident waiting to happen. We decided right before we left on the trip that we would need to invest in some new ones.
Thankfully his mom asked if we wanted to take a couple of their old ones (so we can have a whites and darks), since they don't need all the ones they have with the number of people living in the house. We jumped on the opportunity, best part is they're plastic this time, good solid plastic at that, exactly the type I had growing up! Well we had them stacked inside of each other and then put other things we brought home inside to use all the space in the car positively.
So back to Tuesday, I decided to do laundry that day so that said dirty clothes hampers, could be moved out of our living room and back to the bedroom where they belong and that we could finally throw out the old ones!!!!
As I was doing laundry I decided, our sheets needed to be washed, so I threw in the rest of our dark clothes that were in the hamper and then grabbed the sheets and turned the water on. Then go out to the living room and decided I needed to text a friend to ask her a question.
Well at that moment I remembered I had my phone on the bed, so I rush into the the room hoping I set it somewhere off to the side and quickly see it's not there, so I run to the washer that wasn't completely full of water yet and grab out the sheets, my phone doesn't come out of either the top sheet or the fitted sheet. So hoping that it had fell off the bed, I try and look for it on the floor and under the bed. Still no where, check everywhere in the apartment, thinking maybe I moved it somewhere else and didn't remember doing that. Still can't find it, so I go back to the washer that is now done filling up with water and just sitting there waiting for soap to go in so the clothes can be washed.
After moving some things around I find the phone sitting in the water. I quickly try and dry it off the best I can taking it apart, but since it had been in there for at least 10 mins I know my phone is gone. :( I start crying and freaking out knowing that we in no way have money to go get me another one, especially since we're planning to switch providers and have to wait until October to do that, when our contract is finally up.
After getting everything dried off the best I can, I remember that rice can help get out moisture so I put the phone in that and then try to find Tim's old phone from work to see if maybe the SIM card would work in there, but his battery is dead and I tried to find the charger with no such luck. :( When Tim got home he already knew, because of a great friend that texted him to know what happened (she saw it on facebook), we decided to leave the phone overnight and hope that it would work.
The next morning we try, and nothing happens, thinking maybe it's just the battery, because that water indicator thing on the battery is an almost red pink. Since we have the same type of phone we switch batteries and still nothing, :( luckily my SIM card didn't get fried, so now we have either hope a friend has an old phone we can barrow until October, or go and buy a cheap phone to last us until then. Note: this is the first time I have ever killed a phone.
I wouldn't normally worry about not having a phone, but being pregnant, I want to make sure that if anything were to happen that I have a way to contact my doctor's office, Tim, and my mom (she always gets called before the doctor, only because she's a NP in women's health). Plus school is starting soon and this is the first semester Tim and I will both be in school, so being able to contact each other would be very beneficial. :) Especially since we will go to school together, but after that won't really see each other until after Tim's last class where we'll go home for lunch, he'll go off to work, and I'll either stay home to do homework, or go to my last class on Mondays and Wednesdays.
My lesson is learned, from now one besides always checking pockets to make sure they don't have anything on them, I'll also check our sheets to make sure there's nothing in or on them either.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your phone! I also hate how expensive phones can be and for us its like giving away an arm and a foot just to afford one...like my phone, it was "the cheapest" of its kind and we still had to use the credit card, and now its just weird.it does weird things on its own all the time. I hate phones. Hope you find one to temporarily replace it with!
Rachel--- I have like two or three old phones you can use, one of them is the exact one that got ruined in the washer! (We had the same phone remember?) Well, I got a knew one and you can totally use that one for as long as you need.
