1st trip to the E.R.

Last night I had an eventful night. I first went to the Order of the Arrow Banquet with Tim. My parents, Liz, Joe, and Jared were also there with us. During the Banquet my stomach started hurting in the lower right quadrant. I had felt this pain on and off all day, and actually had the pain start the night before. Along with the stomach pain, I felt nauseated all day as well and didn't eat until the banquet. After the banquet I was still hurting and sense it had be going on for about 24 hrs+, I decide, along with everyone else, that I should go to the Er to check it out. My parents took me. Once there we waited for a while and then finally got in to see the doctor, he assigned me to recieve a CT scan and as such I had to drink a solution of sprite and dye to help highlight my digestive tract. While i was drinking, the doctor also came in to do a couple other examinations and the nurse came in and started an IV sight, in it she gave me some zofran to help with the nausea.

Here's a pic of the IV sites that my mom took, it was my very first.

Then once I drank all the solution, CT came and took a few pictures and gave me an IV of saline first, to make sure that the IV site was working right. Then in the IV the gave me, an iodine solution to highlight all my veins. Once I was done with that, My parents and I were stuck waiting for the results to all come back. Luckily once they all did, we found that I didn't have any serious problems within that area, but that I did instead have a viral infection that my lymph nodes were trying to fight off and they were the cause of the pain. So we finally got to leave the Er fours hours after we first got there, with the advice to alternate taking Tylenol and ibeuprofen every three hours. If the pain gets worse, or anyother symptoms appear mainly vomiting without being able to stop, I'll have to go back. If the pain stays the same and is still there after this weekend then I'll have to go in to see my regular doctor to follow up. I was very thankful that it wasn't appendicitis like all of us thought it might be.
