Brittany's Quilt

I've been working on Making a quilt for my sister-in-law Brittany:

This is the design of the quilt, I'm currently working on the blocks that are the little triangles with the rectangles and squares around them.

This is where I've gotten thus far. I think my triangles look awesome and lined up too :) Even the rectangle part doesn't look bad.

But this part I'm having the problems. The rectangle and square are sewn together already and they are lining up so beautiful before I sew, afterwards not so much :( one side is always lopsided.

Because of this problem I've been putting off making the blanket... but with Christmas break looming (we leave in a week) and us going to Tim's parents house for Christmas I want it done by then.

It's been the most difficult sewing project that I've ever tried to accomplished, (I thought that with my dress I wore on my wedding day that wasn't my actual wedding dress). It's been frustrating to do, almost to the point that if I had been pregnant at anytime during this I know I would've been in tears.

Brittany has been offering to take it home while she's off track to let someone else help her do it, and if I don't have it done by the time we leave for Boise and then Vancouver next week I'll have to give in. School starts for me the day after we get back.

If anybody that knows how to quilt can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong so I can get this accomplished I'd be very, very, very grateful. I'll be here trying to figure out some other ways to accomplish this lovely quilt.

You should call Aunt Lenore and see if she has some tips. Sorry, I've only ever sewn one quilt. You have far more experience in this area than I do.
