This class is amazing, any one that has free 3 credits here at school should definitely take it. (No, Brother Rarick I'm not sucking up.)
One principle that I really liked was from the book Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn. He talks about how as a parent you need to be reflective and think about what you did that day as a parent and how while you're doing that you can, work on becoming a better parent each day. Here's a direct quote "most of us would benefit by spending more time reviewing what we’ve done with our children in order to be better parents tomorrow than we are today." (1) I really like this idea and I know that I need to do this not only as a parent but also as an individual.
I related it back to the Atonement and the Repentance process and how each day we should be reflecting on the day and seeing what we can do to improve upon in our life. In Alma 5: 17-18 it talks about how we can't just expect to enter into the Kingdom of God, without repenting. At that day we will remember all the sins that we have committed and haven't taken care of. To me this says we need to remember that we're human and need to repent of those sins so that we don't get stuck remember all the wrong we have committed.
