An answer!

Many of you know that Kenneth has been fussy for quite some time. I really noticed it after his shots and when it never went away I knew something was wrong with him.
About two weeks after his shots we went in to the doctor and they said he probably just had the stomach flu, even though he never threw up or had diarrhea. Mostly he'd just scream when I tried to feed him and arching his back. Frustrating to say the least. I should add around his shots he was weighing in at 11 lbs 13 oz, this appointment he weighed 11 lb 8 oz. The PA said to wait it out over the weekend and if he wasn't better to bring in back.

First thing Monday morning the 26th of March I call in and got him in that day. Kenneth had gone down some more in his weight, was now 11 lbs 3 oz. The Doctor still thought he might have the stomach flu and we should try a nursing fast. So for the next 24 hours I gave him just Pedilyte to help keep him hydrated and then the next 24 did an every other feeding of Pedilyte. He did that and was only a little better. Afterwards he was way worse! I'm talking times he absolutely refused to eat.

Tuesday this week, the 3rd of April, I then call and they got me in that day as well. We went in and another Doctor saw him. He was weighing in at 10 lb 9 oz. He then decided that sense Kenneth hadn't been tested for reflux that we would test him for it. The nurse called the hospital and was able to get him in today! The doctor also proactively gave us the medicine so we didn't have to go in later to get it if needed.

Part of the reflux test is not giving your baby anything to eat for 4 hours before. So early this morning I had an alarm set up and fed him. We then got up and to the hospital for his 9am appointment. He did pretty well, took the barium solution but then after a while started spitting it out. Don't blame him! (I have had it before) They did an X-ray on him the entire time and we did see it going up in his esophagus. The Doctor that did it told me he had slight reflux but he wouldn't be too worried about it. I just smiled at him and said okay. Considering I know what I've gone through the last month, I'm ready to get my super happy baby back, and get him to start gaining his weight back! Thank goodness the pediatrician gave me the medicine already!

To help Kenneth gain a little more weight we're starting to give him some formula, if he still acts hungry and refuses to nurse anymore. I also started taking some supplements that are suppose to help increase milk supply! Hoping that I can continue to nurse him until he's at least 6 months! But shooting for a year!
