Sunday morning started out perfect for us. We got to sleep in a little, and Tim was too tired to get up to shower, to get to church on time and even Kenneth slept later than normal. So we got up and got showered. While I was in the shower around 9:30 my lower right side started hurting. At first I thought it was just a round ligament pain so I just was doing my best to wait for it to pass. I got out started getting ready, hair, makeup, even did Kenneth's hair. Then while getting dressed the pain got a lot worse while sitting. Never had round ligament pains, hurt then. This was 10 something
So I tried to get in a position to make it feel better, and tried a lot more, but none helped. Tim continued to get ready and even finished getting Kenneth ready. Soon I was crying from the pain. Tim brought me some essential oils to see if those would help, not knowing what the pain was from. Those didn't touch it, and Tim even brought me some Tyenol to see if that would help. Which it didn't. Around 10:50 I was crying from the pain and decided to try and call my mom to see what she thought. But she was at church. Tim gave me a blessing at this point, to have comfort.
I spent the next 3 hours trying to get comfortable and trying anything I could think of to help. I some how got into a state of drowisness that made it more manageable. Looking back it was probably the blessing that helped, but I was still in a lot of pain and had to distract my mind to not cry. After 2 I called my mom and broke down crying again. She said it was best to get in to be seen, since it could be a number of things all needing to be checked out.
I called Jared and luckily he was able to come over and watch Kenneth for us while we went to urgent care. We went to a new one and they were awesome. We walked in and Tim explained I was in pain on my lower right side, the receptionist gave Tim the paperwork, got my insurance information and called back to the nurses to let them know what was going on. Tim barely had time to put in information on the first page before they came to get me.
They did the typical temp, blood pressure, blood oxygen stats and asked me questions. The doctor came in and by this point Tim had come back. The doctor was concerned and could probably tell I was in pain. I had to give a urine test and then they drew my blood. The doctor came in and explained there was a lot of blood in my urine. It wasn't a pretty color either, was much darker then it had been earlier that morning.
He wanted to run a couple more tests to make sure it wasn't a UTI or appendicitis. He came back and said after looking at my urine under a mircoscope there was no bacteria that he could see. My CBC did show elevated white blood cells, but that does happen in pregnancy so they couldn't be sure what it was from. He then went to talk to my OB/GYN office.
Came back and the doctor he talked to said it sounded like Kidney Stones to him too, especially the way my pain was feeling and acting. They also wanted me to call first thing Monday morning to get seen at the office to have an ultrasound done. Normally they would do a CT scan but they both agreed that wouldn't be safe for the baby and instead an ultrasound would be better to check it out. So I was sent home with a prescription to get some pregnancy safe pain medication and to drink lots and lots of water.
One thing that was hard about this whole experience was the pain. The doctor asked me what I was most concerned about and I told him, getting the pain to stop. It was worse then I ever have felt before. Even more so then contractions ever were. I've never cried from pain and that much too, except when I was little of course.
Thank goodness after a couple pills and lots of water the pain went away for a while. Tim was so great through this all and very concerned about me. Jared was awesome too, he cleaned up our apartment that I had cleaned yesterday and was a disaster again today. Plus Kenneth loves Jared and Winnie!
