Last
of all. This stems from something a friend said on Facebook that really
upset me and lots of other stay at home moms for that matter. She said
that we had no right to say what happens to our tax dollars, because we
sit on our butts all day and rely on our husbands to bring home the
money.
For Tim and I right now in order for us to both have a job
we'd obviously have to put Kenneth into daycare. My thoughts are, I
didn't have a baby just to have one and put him into daycare. In reality
it would end up costing us more for me to work then it would be for me
not to work.
Also looking at it, I go to school full-time and
have worked hard to receive a half-tuition scholarship and will continue
to work hard so that I can receive a full-tuition scholarship. (which
will hopefully happen after this next semester) Plus we both receive a Pell Grant that helps cover what we don't get from Tim's job each
paycheck.
I also grew up in a home where my mom had to work in
order for ends to meet each month. But she always told us about how she
wishes she could have stayed home and taken care of us in a different
way. My parents taught me that it was important to obtain a degree so
that way if something ever were to happen to where I might have to work
to help provide for our kids that I could. But until that happens I'm
going to enjoy spending time with my children watching them grow up.
My
thoughts about the tax dollars were/are that Tim's money is our money
and what gets taken out effects us. Plus depending on how they're being
used will unfortunately effect my children.
I may spend a lot of
time sitting on my butt right now, doing crafts while Kenneth is
sleeping. But I know when I had in a few more kids that time will be
precious and rare to happen.
I know the times that I have
spent helping out with my sister she amazes me each day with all that
she does. She's a mother of four, all are at home and has home schooled
the oldest for the last two years. All with deciding to and going back
to school so that she can finish up her degree. Plus she manages to keep
her house in order and have food on the table each meal for her kids,
usually a nice hot one for dinner that is always homemade!
But let
me say as crazy, busy as the days are, and go by hanging out with them, I
can't wait until I too get to experience that time and get to start
teaching my son all the fun things there are to teach him!
