This year for the 4th of July I decided, and Tim agreed that we should go to Boise. We left Friday when Tim got done with classes and this time we went the scenic route! So much better then the other way, we especially loved not having to feel up with gas at all until it was time to head back! Once we made it to Meridian we met up with Elizabeth and Joe at Applebee's we just got appetizers to eat this time since we knew those would fill us up. We even took home some of the left overs because we each got an appetizer to share. :) Once back to Elizabeth's and Joe's we saw all the kids and waited out the time talking, Elizabeth and I took Emily, Maddie, and Asher to the movie in the park, while Joe and Tim stayed home with JJ. It was fun, Elizabeth and I just talked through the whole movie and the girls ate lots of candy, cookies, and cupcakes. After the movie and putting the girls to bed the grown-ups all talked for a little bit but we were all tired and went to bed shortly.
Saturday morning we all woke up and Elizabeth made french toast for breakfast, all her kids end up getting the stomach flu except Maddie so it was just us adults and Maddie who ate breakfast and it was delicious! After breakfast Elizabeth and I went out to do some shopping and took Asher along, we think he had the bug the day before. We went to Old Navy to exchange some things Tim and I had bought the week before but I could only exchange Tim's shorts. After not finding anything we wanted at Old Navy for family pictures that is. We went next door to Shopko and were able to find some really cute shirts, plus they were having a good sale on the shirts. We both were able to find ones that worked for our family pictures and even found some cute baby clothes for Asher since he was in need of summer items. After shopping, we had something to eat at Elizabeth's and I ended up taking a nap while the kids were down for theirs. Elizabeth and I went and did some shopping for a couple things we needed for recipes we wanted to make and then had dinner. After dinner and more talking :) Tim and I met up with Ben, Sara, Kaidyn, and Haille to watch the fireworks that night. They were short and sweet which wasn't really surprising. Where we were was right by the Meridian Swimming Pool which brought back a lot of memories. Growing up my family did summer league swim team and so it was fun to be able to show Tim where I swam all summer 5 days a week. After fireworks Tim and I stopped by Dairy Queen and got some ice cream and it was so good! :) Afterwards we talked a while with Liz and Joe and then went to bed.
Sunday we woke up semi-early for a Sunday for us, and got ready and went to church with Liz and Joe. It was great to be there and I got to hold Asher for a majority of Sacrament. After Sacrament meeting Liz and I went into nursery to help out, and Tim left to go see his grandparents. It was fun for me to see my sister be able to just sit and play with kids, I know JJ enjoyed it a lot. He kept asking her to do lots of different things with him. We switched and went to Relief Society for the last hour because Liz had to play. Asher was being a little fussy at first but fell asleep luckily for most of the time. The lesson was so good, I loved it. After church I fed the kids lunch and we all got ready for family pictures. We went to the Meridian City Hall which they really have made beautiful with all the landscaping and water features. It was hot out, but we were able to sit in the shade a lot so that helped. After family pictures, Liz and I started on dinner. She decided we would have a pasta bar and we ended up making 3 types of noodles, sauces, and meats. Which took a very long time, on top of that we made fresh salsa to use up some of the fresh produce we had from Bountiful Baskets (luckily the boys and ben and sara came when we were starting the salsa so they were able to help), Plus we started Spudnuts. Dinner was so yummy! Afterwards we finished the spudnuts, which mostly entailed rolling them out, cutting them out, and frying them. That took a long time, but the product was worth it. Sara made a yummy lemon glaze that we put on some of them, others we did powder sugar, cinnamon and sugar, and then a Strawberry glaze. We took some of them to Liz and Joe's neighbors who were home because we had so many of them. Once we were done with the Spudnuts we were all ready to bed and luckily Tim and already taken our stuff outside to the tent Joe and him had set up. The ground was very bumpy where we where so it felt like real camping. ;) I'm not sure I'm up for real camping while pregnant without a pad of some sort to sleep on.
The next morning we all woke up practically when the sun did and tried to sleep as long as possible. But we had to get up and get going for the parade. We met up with Ben and Sara at St. Al's and then Ben and Sara led the way, Ben and Liz dropped off all of us which was nice so we didn't have to walk far to get a good spot. :) Near when the parade was starting we found out that the parade wasn't coming along that street and had to move, luckily we still ended up with a pretty good spot. It was a very cool parade and they had the theme of the Constitution. The kids were so excited to see certain parts. We ended up leaving before it was over because they had lots of huge gaps in between each part so we thought it was over and had everything ready to go before we realized it wasn't really. Tim was sad because he saw a band coming and that's what he really wanted to see. He also decided that he needs bagpipes now after seeing the Boise bagpipe people perform. After the parade, part of why we left, we went to Red Robin for lunch. Tim and I again only got an appetizer and fries. It was delicious and we had a lot of fun all being out together. Paul and Lacy some of all of our mutual friends came too which was fun to see them and their little girl. After lunch, we went back to Elizabeth and Joe's they put the kids down for a nap and we all watched Psych together while Tim did his homework. We all ended up falling asleep and after waking up went of to Sara's Dad's house for a BBQ. It was so much fun being there, we had a way yummy dinner, followed by swimming, and then fireworks. It was all lots of fun! After fireworks we headed back to Liz and Joe's and all went to bed because it was late.
The next morning, Tim had the stomach flu and wasn't doing well, after talking to mom he drank some gatorade and eventually felt well enough to get in the car so we could head back. Once back Brittany was over and her and Tim made dinner because he was feeling much better. I worked on sewing a skirt that Brittany needs for her concerts that this Saturday. It was way easy to sew and I very much enjoyed not having to cut out the fabric!
We had such a great weekend even despite the sickness. We had more plans of fun things to do then what we did but all in all it turned into a great weekend anyways just spending time together!
